An Extreme Makeover, or Full Mouth Restoration is the individual restructuring of each and every tooth. However, rather than doing it tooth by tooth over a long period of time, we are able to do it all at once to achieve ideal occlusion (or bite). Sometimes called neuromuscular dentistry, this technique involves a preliminary information-gathering visit. The goal of this appointment (the first of three primary visits) is to determine ideal occlusion. We use special computer diagnostics and neuromuscular methods to relax the jaw muscles. Tension or pain that contributes to TMJ problems are often times a result of poor occlusion and shortened or damaged teeth. Once we know where the muscles and jaw are most comfortable we use that information to make restorations that honor that position.
